Sugar Ruins Your Body and Mind
Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend.
Since I came back to Japan, I’ve been staying at my mum’s.
It’s great she cooks dinner and that, but she also gets me some dessert every day such as ice cream, tiramisu and chocolate. And, I end up eating them all because I don’t want to waste food.
Soon enough, I started feeling sluggish and got a few acnes on my face. I suspect it was the excessive amount of sugar I’ve been eating.
I think sugar is the evilest ingredient.
It’s one of the most addictive and unhealthy substances. It can be more addictive than some hard drugs like cocaine. And it ruins your body and mind.
To list some of the effects sugar has on you, it can;
1. increase your risk of heart disease
2. cause acne
3. increase your risk of type 2 diabetes
4. increase your risk of cancer
5. increase your risk of depression
6. accelerate the ageing process
7. drains your energy
8. cause cognitive decline
(See this article on Healthline to know more about the health effects of sugar)
But quitting sugar is hard.
Partly because it’s addictive, but also because it’s in everything!
You see, sugar has different names. As far as I know, there are 56 different names for it (e.g. caramel, fruit juice, honey, sucrose). This makes it very hard to tell whether the food you buy has sugar or not.
So now, whenever I go to a supermarket, I take ages to choose which food to buy. My girlfriend hates me for it. She thinks I’m crazy and becoming too obsessed.
Granted that consuming sugar in moderation now and then is fine, but I’d rather quit it entirely if I can.
What do you guys think about sugar?
I’m curious what your diet looks like. Is there any tip you have concerning quitting sugar?
Anyways, hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend :)

Personal Update - Getting a driving licence
I’ve decided to get a driving licence recently.
Because I now live in Tokyo where you can take subways to anywhere, I didn’t think I’d need it. But, once I start this new job, I might not have enough time to get it for awhile. So, I thought now might be the best timing.
In Japan, you have to go to a school and attend some classes to get a driving licence. Because of that, I haven’t had much time to make new videos. But, I’m planning to publish one about Anki today!
Finally, here’s a random photo of my brother’s dog. Isn’t she super cute?!
