Building an Effective Note-Taking System - New Online Course
Hey ;) How are you doing today?
I’ve been working on my new online course about:
1) building an efficient note-taking system with Roam and
2) sharing your ideas so you can build an audience.
Note-taking became a sort of buzzword recently. But personally, I think notes are meaningless unless you can do something with them (e.g. writing a blog post, article, thesis, book, making videos etc).
That is why the second part of the course is focused on helping you share your ideas, learn in public and build an audience.
If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to register your interest by completing this 10 mins survey :)

I’m aiming to launch this course within the next few months. But it will be a small private launch at first.
I’m so excited!
My Favourites of the Week
1. New Roam CSS Theme by Maggie Appleton
If you’re active on Twitter, you probably know this already, but Maggie Appleton just released her new Roam CSS theme. You can download it from here. I’m currently using a CSS theme that is a combination of hers and this Roam Dark Theme.
2. How to Make Money Online by Ali Abdaal
Since I’m quitting my 9-5 job soon, I found this video by Ali really helpful. Some of my takeaways:
a) Not having a skill you can teach or sell is not an excuse anymore because you can learn anything online for free.
b) You don’t have to be an expert to teach something. You can teach other beginners what you learned. (This is what I did with Roam - I was merely sharing what I learned on Youtube, and before I knew, I was an “Roam expert”.)
c) You have to provide lots of free content for a long period of time to build trust and an audience. Then, a few years later when you made a product, you can tell them about it. They will be happy to buy your product because they know they can trust you and your content is valuable.
d) Learn, teach for free, then sell.
3. Why Bother? by Salman Ansari
This article reminded me of why learning in public is the fastest way to learn anything and the best way to help others.
I always felt learning in public was scary because I was afraid being wrong. So, I kept telling myself “I’m not ready. I’m not even an expert on anything”.
But you’ll never be ready if you wait until conditions are perfect.
“It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.” - Hugh Laurie
